Shane Clouse, of Florence, shot a very nice mountain goat on September 15th at Kootenai Canyon in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness. He measures 8 5/8″! Clouse’s hunting buddy was his 72 year-old father-in-law, Tom Power, and they trekked in all the way up to an elevation of 8,800 feet! Their camp was about a 12-mile pack in, and they found mountain goats after an approximate 2.2 mile hike up and about 2800 feet up from their camp.
