Hunting:

General season for Deer and Elk has come to an end but we still have some migratory bird season open including Duck and Goose. Water fowl is doing well. The ponds and backwaters are freezing up or frozen. The birds are coming down from the north, so get out there and have some fun. Upland Game Bird season continues until January 1st and duck & geese can be hunted until early January. Check closing dates for your preferred areas.

Keep in mind varmint hunting season is now open and will continue into early 2015. Bob Ward’s is stocked with the ammo, firearms, and calls you need.

Fishing:

Helena Ice Report: Ice is pretty scarce so far around Helena, there are some reports of some folks ice fishing near shore on Hauser and near the causeway, as well, but the ice conditions were not ideal, with the cold temperatures we should be seeing some opportunity to get out on the ice in a couple more weeks, assuming temperatures stay cold.

Ski Report:

Great Divide: Great Divide has about 15-20 inches of snow and is open!

Showdown: Showdown currently has a 12” base with 20” on the summit. Showdown is planning on opening Dec. 12th, 2014.

Whitefish Mountain Resort: is planning on opening this Saturday Dec. 6th, 2014. The resort is already sitting on 43” base and is making some snow.
