A Day With Jim Teeny

Fly Fishing Legend Jim Teeny began his unbelievable career over 40 years ago with the development of the Teeny Nymph.

Later he created a new fly line that integrated floating line with sinking line using technology not yet available to anglers in 1983. “The Teeny Lines changed fly fishing.” Said Jim Teeny as drove to a lake in Oregon together.

I was invited to fish with Jim and test Teeny rods, lines and a newly designed floating boat made by The Creek Company www.creekcompany.com on an incredible lake in Central Oregon and I jumped at the opportunity.

It was amazing how much difference the right line made. We literally went from not catching any fish to numerous doubles on monster rainbows by changing lines throughout the day to vary the depth and action of the nymphs. The technique was a slow retrieve using a Teeny nymph fished deep on open water.

These fish proved to be incredible fighters and good weather made for a perfect day of fishing.

I would like to thank Jim Teeny www.jimteeny.com for the invite, it was a truly memorable experience!
