Captain and Matt Mackinaw spent day 2 on Fort Peck chasing salmon. The Captain broke his decade-long Fort Peck salmon drought.
He had to be told that he had a fish on as Matt Mackinaw pointed out that his rod acted like it had a fish on even though it wasn’t released from the down rigger that was set at 80 feet. Low and behold, it did have a salmon on and at that point size did not matter to the Captain.
Ten minutes later, believe it or not, the Captain caught a 15-inch walleye at 80 feet with a squid salmon set-up.
So it was another slow day on Fort Peck but an angler that was at the fish cleaning station caught 5 salmon in 55 and 75 over 130 feet of water mid afternoon between the marina and York Island.
Fish on!
