A friend of mine recently showed me a video of his first archery success story, and it turns out, he got himself a grouse!  In honor of his first bow kill, I want to dedicate this post to Kevin Frazier.  Good luck this season, Kevin, and have an awesome opening archery for big game hunting weekend!  Here is something simple to try from food.com with your next grouse so that you’re spending more time out hunting rather than cooking:

Simple, Tasty Grouse Recipe

1-2

  • 1grouse, cut into serving pieces
  • 12cup flour
  • 12cup salt
  • 34teaspoon sugar
  • 14teaspoon allspice
  • 34teaspoon garlic
  • 18teaspoon paprika
  • 2tablespoons margarine
  1. Mix flour, salt, sugar, allspice, garlic, and paprika in a wide bowl or pan.
  2. Dip grouse pieces in flour mixture to coat. Brown pieces in margarine over low heat turning as needed.
  3. Add a small amount of water, cover, and simmer until tender, approx 20-30 minutes depending on grouse size.
