Hunting:

Spring Turkey is in full swing and runs through May 15th.  Spring Bear is also in full swing. Sheep, Goat, and Moose applications are due by May 2nd.

Fishing:

Little Blackfoot River: If you’re looking for some smaller water it’s a gorgeous place, water is in run-off—-running high and off-color.  We’d recommend fishing near tributaries or higher elevations above Elliston.  For flies we’d recommend a Hare’s Ear, Prince Nymph size 10-12 and pink scuds.

Canyon Ferry/Holter Lake and Hauser: Time to get your boat out! With warmer water temperatures the walleye bite is picking up, and the trout spawn is still on, but not for much longer.  Spawn sacs, marabou jigs and trolling crankbaits have been very successful.  For Walleye we recommend tossing some cranks or jigs with perch (or fire tiger); worm harnesses are also starting to work.

Missouri River BWO’s are on fire right now.  Nymphing has been good in mornings and evenings but is still a bit slow during the day.  We’d recommend for nymphing Ray Charles, BWOs, Mayflies, or pinks San juan worms.  Streamers are also starting to pick –up try hucking Minnows or Zonkers in black, olive, or brown.
