The water on Rock Creek,  Blackfoot and Clark Fork has stabilized the last several days and fishing on Rock Creek and the Blackfoot has been good to very good.  The trout are already tuned into the Salmon fly pattern on Rock Creek and many of the fish caught on lower and middle Rock Creek are stuffed full of the big bug.  Best times  for the big dry fly on Rock Creek has been from about 2 pm to 4 pm.

Not many flying but lots of bugs on bushes-already 25 miles up the creek.  Green drakes are also very early this year and some of the softer water is producing nice fish with green drake patterns.

The Blackfoot has just a few scattered salmon flies-but fisherman are doing good with about a #8 girdle bug pattern.   Nymphing with two large wire san juan worms has been effective in the mid sections of the Blackfoot.  Anyway, weather may change soon and the waters might come up again-but it shouldn’t effect the fishing negatively unless it rises too quickly and muddies up.
