The fishing in Western Montana has been good to excellent in the past week. Hopper patterns, October caddis, and small to medium droppers have been producing a lot of nice fish on most area waters.

The dry fly fishing seems to be better from about 1pm to 5 or 6 pm. The Bitterroot has been having the best actual hatches-but the Blackfoot is fishing just as good with attractor flies and small streamers.
For those of you that love to catch whitefish and smoke them-prince nymphs seem to be the main producer. With most people thinking of hunting now-it is a great time to get out there and have very good fishing with very little company.
