Montana FWP is seeking info regarding the headless elk carcass pictured.  It was found in the Poe Park area of the Elkhorn Mountains, southwest of Townsend.  The elk had been shot, beheaded and left to waste.  The carcass was discovered by other hunters on Tuesday who said they ran into a man earlier in the day who was hunting on foot with a backpack, orange t shirt and camo pants.  He said he was from the whitefish area.  The Elkhorns are a tropy hunting district and require a special permit available by drawing only.  Game wardens would like to speak with anyone who might have some information on the case.  Call Montana’s poaching hotline at 1-800-TIP-MONT.
