The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) will hold a public meeting to solicit comment on a proposed land exchange.

The meeting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Montana Room of the Twin Bridges High School, located at 216 West 6th Street in Twin Bridges, Mont.

The proposed land exchange would involve three separate parcels of state trust land in Madison County totaling approximately 611 acres, to be exchanged for approximately 861 acres of land in Madison and Butte-Silver Bow counties owned by SRI River Holdings, LLC, formerly known as the Hamilton Ranch.

The purpose of the proposed exchange is to improve land management opportunities for both the private landowner and DNRC; to enhance hunting safety zones near private ranch residences; to provide public access to currently inaccessible federal lands; and to provide a higher rate of return to state trusts.
