Delta Waterfowl traces its roots as a premiere waterfowl conservation organization to 1911.  The organization has developed several key programs — including Predator Management, Hen Houses, Working Wetlands and First Hunt — all of which are based on sound science. Delta works to produce ducks, conserve breeding duck habitat, enhance duck hunting opportunities and ensure the continuing tradition of waterfowl hunting in North America.  Delta staff and students also continue to conduct leading-edge research in order to answer key questions pertaining to waterfowl and wetland ecology and management.

To raise funds to help with their work, they will be hosting their inaugural banquet fundraiser on February 11, 2017 at the Best Western Plus Grantree Inn at 1325 North 7th Ave. in Bozeman.  Here are where funds raised go, in their own words:

These funds along with what our chapter raises at our banquet help the chapter and wildlife succeed. As a chapter, our goal is to  preserve the American tradition of hunting by aiding hunters new to the sport of waterfowling by providing resources to help them succeed and to create a positive image of hunters by promoting ethics and responsible land use. We will accomplish this goal by hosting field days, seminars, etc. We will also be giving back the the wildlife and habitat they use by constructing hen houses, and nesting structures. We will provide special opportunities to engage and encourage youth and women to experience and enjoy waterfowl hunting and all other aspects of waterfowl. River clean up days,  wetland restoration and preservation work will keep the habitat healthy a thriving for years to come.

So, as you can see, Delta Waterfowl is an incredibly amazing conservation organization, and your support will help waterfowl in our great state.  The Headwaters chapter is the only Montana chapter of Delta Waterfowl, too, so let’s show them we want them to succeed in helping our waterfowl populations along with other organizations in our state!
