Attention Bowhunters – Time to sign up for bowhunters ed

By state law, all first time bowhunters must pass the bowhunter education course in order to purchase an archery license in Montana.  Interested students must register online. Follow links to Education, Hunter Education, and View Schedule.

The following Bowhunter Education courses have been scheduled around northwest Montana.  All students must register online.

Kalispell:  Bowhunter Education courses for the Kalispell area will be held on the following schedules.  The courses are conducted at the Flathead Valley Trap Club site north of Kalispell.  Students must pick up a manual, pre-study directions, and course materials as directed on the online registration site. –Kalispell 1: Tuesday, April 4 and Friday April 7 from 6:30-9 p.m.; Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kalispell 2: Thursday, April 20, and Friday April 21, 6:30-9 p.m; Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  (This is a Bowhunter Education class for students 11-17 years of age)

–Kalispell 3: Thursday, May 4 and Friday May 5 from 6:30-9 p.m.; Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

–Kalispell 4: Thursday, July 6 and Friday July 7, 6:30-9 p.m.; Saturday July 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Kalispell South (serving Bigfork, Somers, and Lakeside areas)

–Tuesday, May 16, Thursday May 18 at 6:30-9 p.m.; Saturday, May 20, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  see online site for location and directions;

 

Columbia Falls:

Thursday May 18 and Friday May 19, 6:30-9 p.m.at the North Valley Community Center in Columbia Falls; Saturday May 20, 12-5:30 p.m.; contact is Dave Yeats (892-4527).

Whitefish:

–Thursday June 1 and Friday June 2, 6-9 p.m.; Saturday June 3, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kalispell Online Bowhunter Education Opportunity:  (Must register online after completing the online portion; must bring online certificate).  Bowhunter Education students age 18 or older may take the bowhunter education field qualifier course online.  Log on to: http://www.bowhunter-ed.com/mt/index.htm.   This is a two-part process—this online course, completed on your own time and your own schedule, followed by a field day exercise led by certified Montana bowhunter education volunteer instructors. During the field day, students must demonstrate that they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to become certified, and must also pass the Montana Bowhunter Education test. You must complete a field day within 365 days from the time you successfully complete the online portion.

Kalispell Online Field Day 1: Online Bowhunter Education field day: Saturday, March 11, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.at the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club.

Kalispell Online Field Day 2: Online Bowhunter Education field day: Saturday May 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.at the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club.

Kalispell Online Field Day 3: this will be offered if enough instructors can participate: it will be sometime in July….

The online course is available to anyone 18 years old and older. Anyone 17 years and younger is required to take the conventional classroom-based course of instruction. However, anyone may use the online program as a resource to learn about bowhunting. Call FWP at 752-5501 for more information.

Bowhunter Education courses are offered in other northwest Montana communities.  These schedules and dates will be announced as soon as they are available.
