Houseboat rules sink in legislature

The Daily Inter Lake is reporting that a proposed legislative measure has died in committee that would have required houseboats to move one mile every two weeks instead of staying anchored in one place.

The bill, H.B. 489, was tabled in the House Natural Resources committee by a 9-3 vote. The bill had been proposed by Bigfork Representative Mark Noland after complaints about the regulation grey area that two permanently anchored houseboats seemed to be operating under on the north shore of Flathead Lake.
