The proposal will develop and construct a sustainable, moderately accessible, .25-mile walking trial from the parking area to the existing interpretive plaza. The project will also rehabilitate an abandoned access road to decrease maintenance and significantly reduce erosion at the site. Since the environmental assessment was opened for public comment the scope of the project has been reduced due to funding limitations; rest stops with benches and interpretive panels will not be installed along the trail.

A draft Environmental Assessment regarding the proposed project was presented to the public for review through a 32-day comment period which ran from January 23, 2017 through February 23, 2017.  Six comments were received by email during the comment period; five were supportive of the project and one was opposed.

It was determined that the proposed action would have no significant effects on the human or physical environment. Therefore, an environmental impact statement will not be prepared. By notification of this Decision Notice, the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) is hereby made the Final EA.

This decision notice action is subject to appeal, which must be submitted to FWP Director in writing and postmarked within 30 days (by April 30, 2017) of this decision notice. The appeal must specifically describe the basis for the appeal, explain how the appellant has previously commented to the Department or participated in the decision-making process, and how FWP might address the concerns of the appeal.
