Fishing will not be allowed on the Big Hole River from Saginaw Bridge on Skinner Meadows Road to the mouth of the river’s North Fork beginning on Friday.

This is the second section of the Big Hole Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks closed to fishing this week in accordance with the Big Hole Watershed Committee Drought Plan. On Thursday fishing closed in the section of the river between Notch Bottom Fishing Access Site and the river’s confluence with the Beaverhead River.

The drought plan calls for total prohibition of fishing when flow rates on the Big Hole fall below 20 cubic feet per second. fishing will once again be allowed if flows rise above 40 cubic feet per second for seven consecutive days but no later than Oct. 31.
