I’ve hunted hard this archery season but with one week my tags remain unfilled. To add insult to injury I returned from a recent trip afield to find my husky picked up a new scent while I was away.

My hunting buddy’s mom is a real sweetheart and was walking Sitka behind her family’s farmhouse when the pup found a skunk she wanted to play with. The smelly critter wasn’t feeling it however and sprayed my dog right in the face.

I returned to the farm after a long day in the hills. I was dog tired but Sitka needed help shedding her new scent before I could take a shower and a nap. Luckily I found a recipe for a cure online and this helpful reminder for hunters from the folks at the Spokesman Review came a few days too late.

If you find yourself in the same situation mix a quart of hydrogen peroxide, a quarter cup of baking soda and a teaspoon of dish soap. Your dog and your nose will thank you.
