NW Montana Fishing Report by Snappy’s Sport Senter 7.25.18

Here is the NW Montana fishing report from Snappy’s Sport Senter in Kalispell as of July 25, 2018:

Flathead Lake
Good number of Lake Whitefish showing up. North and South end of Lake. North End try the Delta or river mouth in 30’-40’ water and Caroline Point and Hatchery Bay 40’-50’.  South End try Rollins, Big Arm, Elmo and the Narrows. Pete’s Whitefish Slayers and Zimmer Rattle D’Zaster are working well. Also, the Perch in Elmo, Big Arm and Polson bay areas are showing great numbers. Lake Trout trolling is working well with flashers and Brad’s Super Baits with maple sausage inside. Try the mid-lake bar for trolling around 120’ or the Delta. Also, catching the Lake Trout mixed in with Whitefish Jigging.Flathead River & Forks
All fishing well. Try Stimulators, Humpy and Hoppers in orange and red colors. Spinners use Panther Martins or Rooster tails. Salmon eggs work well also.

​Church & Fennon Sloughs
Good Pike in the early mornings with large spinnerbaits or jerk baits. Bass are good in the late evening with top water or spinnerbaits. Few Crappie showing up in the evening as well.Ashley Lake
Good Salmon trolling in the early mornings with small dodgers and spoons – 10”-14” fish. Also, big perch in the weed beds.

Middle Thompson
Good night bite on Salmon. Try nigh lights with Hali jigging spoons from dark until 1am. Few good Perch in the early mornings off the deep weed beds. Pike are also biting in the early mornings on jerk baits.

Island Lake
Lots of nice keeper Perch and a few smaller Pike.

Smith Lake
Lots of Pike – 2-4lb range with a few in the 20lb range. Try spinnerbaits or buzz baits in the late evening or early morning.

Swan Lake
Good Pike down in the South End using dead bait. Fishing with whole dead pea mouth or try large swim baits. Salmon fishing well in the main lake in the early morning. Not high numbers but big fish. Few Lake Trout thrown in as well.

Lower Stillwater
Lots of good eating size Pike – 2-5lb. Good Perch in the early mornings as well.

Upper Swan River
Good fly fishing. Try Royal Wulff, Stimulators and PMDs in the early mornings. Spinners or small gold Little Cleo’s working well too.

Noxon Reservoir
Excellent Bass fishing both Large and Smallmouth. Try deeper points near old river bed or big flats early in the morning. Walleye bite is good right at dark. Trolling bottom bouncers and crawlers harness or flicker shads.

Beaver Chain of Lakes
Good late evening for nice Rainbows. Try Murray Lake for big Brookies.
