The Miles City Birding/Outdoor Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Miles Community College Room 106.

The evening’s guest speaker will be Heather Nenninger with the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Montana (SWCDM) and the Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS). Nenninger will discuss snakes of Montana, and she will have her pet western hog-nosed snake and milk snake on hand for participants to see. Both snakes are extremely docile and neither is venomous. Children are welcome.

Group organizer Brandi Skone, who is also the non-game biologist for Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 7 in Miles City, is looking for suggestions for other winter speakers on various outdoor topics.

The group formed in 2017 around a shared interest in exploring outdoor topics. Activities are determined by the group and include outings and guest speakers. The Miles City Birding/Outdoor Group invites people of all ages and interests to attend their meetings, which are held monthly in the winter when schedules permit. People from surrounding communities are welcome. There is no cost to belong, and people may participate in as many or as few outings as they choose. For more information, contact Brandi Skone at 234-0900 or email bskone@mtgov.
