Upper Salmon River Weekly Steelhead Report 11.26.18

Steelhead angler effort on the upper Salmon River continued to drop over the past week. The majority of anglers were observed fishing downstream of North Fork in location code 15. Angler effort in other upper Salmon River location codes was low.

Anglers interviewed downstream of the Middle Fork in location code 14 did not report catching a steelhead. Anglers interviewed upstream of the Middle Fork in location code 15 averaged 16 hours per steelhead caught and 81 hours per steelhead kept. Anglers interviewed upstream of North Fork in location code 16 averaged 7 hours per steelhead caught and 13 hours per steelhead kept. Anglers interviewed upstream of the Lemhi River in location code 17 did not report catching a steelhead.

The Salmon River is currently flowing at 1,210 cfs through the town of Salmon, ID which is 95% of average for today’s date. The river’s clarity was excellent throughout the week, and water temperatures were in the mid-30’s.
