A trapper education class is planned for Butte on Saturday, January 26 from 8:30am to 4pm at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Butte Area Office (1820 Meadowlark Lane). The class is free, and students must register by contacting FWP’s Vanna Boccadori at 406-494-2082. An adult must accompany students under 12 years of age.

Topics will include trapping equipment, trap setting, ethics, regulations, furbearer identification, and fur handling. The class is sponsored by the Montana Trappers Association (MTA) and FWP.  Class participants will receive a certificate of completion, the MTA student handbook, and other materials.

This class does not certify participants for Montana’s wolf trapping season. New wolf trappers in Montana must complete a wolf trapper education course, offered later this year in several locations throughout Montana.  Find out more at fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter.

For more information contact Vanna Boccadori at 406-494-2082 or Fran Buell with the Montana Trappers Association at education@montanatrappers.org.
