Apparently, anglers around Salmon and Challis are going to see some huge trout in their local fishing ponds, thanks to Clear Springs Foods!  According to an article on the Idaho Fish & Game website, Clear Springs Foods donated more than 900 hatchery broodstock to IDFG!

The trophy-sized trout, which average 2.7 pounds, will be stocked at Blue Mountain, Kids Creek, Hyde and Hayden Creek ponds by Saturday, April 13.

The location and number of trout include: Hayden Pond – 280; Hyde Pond – 50; Kid’s Creek Pond – 200; and Blue Mountain Pond – 150.

“These lunkers will be a big hit, especially for the youngster,” said Jordan Messner, Fish and Game fisheries biologist based in Salmon. “We appreciate Clear Springs’ generosity, and we hope folks get out and enjoy some spring fishing.”

Pond fishing is a great way to introduce kids to the sport, using simple set-ups like worm/marshmallow combinations or commercial baits like Power Bait or Crave, either near the bottom or below a bobber.
