Kalispell, MT — Families are invited to enjoy a day of fishing and outdoor education at Pine Grove Pond in memory of the late Robin Street.

Celebrate Father’s Day Weekend at a free event hosted by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks on Saturday, June 15, 2019. FWP staff will lead educational stations from 9 a.m. – noon. Youth participants will be provided fishing equipment if needed. Raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

Pine Grove Pond is a very popular family fishing pond located 3 miles northeast of Kalispell off Rose Crossing east of Whitefish Stage Road and just west of the Whitefish River. The pond was built and donated by Robin Street and his son Steve and family. It opened in spring 2011 and has grown into a beloved community fishing pond thanks to the Street family and numerous groups that have contributed to the site over the years. Robin Street passed away in February at the age of 85.

“This event is a way to celebrate Robin’s amazing legacy. Pine Grove Pond brings families together, and brings the community together, to enjoy our outdoors and go fishing, and that was Robin’s vision from the start,” said Dillon Tabish, FWP Region 1 information and education program manager.

Pine Grove Pond is catch-and-release for trout, except anglers 14 and younger may take one trout daily and in possession. FWP regularly stocks the pond with rainbow trout.

FWP annually celebrates Father’s Day weekend by offering free fishing for everyone in Montana. This year the promotion covers June 15-16, 2019. While the promotion allows anyone to fish without a license on those days, all other fishing rules and regulations are in effect and must be followed.

Aside from the Father’s Day weekend promotion, anglers 12 and older must have a valid fishing license in Montana.
