(Anaconda, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) will hold a public meeting  regarding the formation of a friends group to support Anaconda Smokestack State Park on Monday, November 4th at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Metcalf Senior Center located at 115 E. Pennsylvania Ave. in Anaconda, MT.

Anaconda Smokestack State Park, the official body that manages the historic and iconic Anaconda Stack, is looking for advocates interested to support the site and collaborate with park staff on future management.

The meeting will help Montana State Parks assess current park conditions, investment from the community of Anaconda and gauge interest in the preservation and potential improvements of the park.

Stakeholders who have an interest in one or more of aspects of the park or the significance of the Stack to the community of Anaconda are encouraged to attend. A Friends Group will allow community members to raise funds, host events, and work with the park to accomplish projects.

The vision of the Friends of the Anaconda Stack is to preserve the community’s culture through developing awareness, furthering education, promoting access and maintaining use of the park within the Butte-Anaconda National Historic Landmark District.
