Bozeman, MT — Wardens with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks are asking for the public’s help in identifying persons involved in vandalizing a gate at the Canyon Ferry Wildlife Management Area just north of Townsend.

The vandalism happened on the south end of the WMA in a parking lot at the north end of Canton Lane. A gate that provides administrative access to the dyke on the WMA was removed from an adjoining concreted post, which was laid over. The gate is now missing.

Investigators believe this happened sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Repair costs are estimated at $1,500.

Damage to these facilities is costly to repair and restricts access and opportunity for other recreationists. Those with information about this incident are asked to call 1-800-TIP-MONT (847-6668). Informants can remain anonymous.
