Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) will open the 2020 Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program grant cycle on Monday, December 2, 2019.  Applications will be accepted through the online system at fundingmt.org through Friday, February 28, 2020 at 3:00 pm.

OHV grants provide funding for safety, ethics and education as well as resource maintenance and improvement projects. The program’s goal is to enhance and maintain OHV recreational opportunities for the benefit of OHV enthusiasts in Montana.

Applicants can include federal, state, county or municipal agencies, private associations and clubs (not individuals). Eligible projects for OHV grants include but are not limited to: maintenance of existing OHV trails, signing, ethics education, noxious weed control, and route mapping.

Approximately $150,000 in funding is available for the 2020. The OHV grant program is operated through funds appropriated by the state legislature. These funds come from 1/8 of 1% of the state gas tax, registration decal fees, and non-resident permit fees.

The OHV Program relies on partnerships between private clubs and public land management agencies and is assisted in grant decision-making by the Off-Highway Vehicle Advisory Committee (OHVAC), which consists of OHV users and land managers.
