Brian Olson from Havre gave this report Saturday morning:
Here’s the fishing report for the Havre area: Fresno has about 6″ of ice on the main lake and more in the bays. Walleye fishing has been excellent in 10′ to 15′ of water using jigging spoons and jigging raps/shiver minnows. Perch and crappie fishing has been good at the bay mouths in 20′ to 25′ of water using winter perch jigs tipped with wax worms and maggots. Trout fishing has been excellent on Fabers, Kurhs, & Grasshopper. The Havre Chamber will have its annual ice fishing contest Jan. 25, 2020 on Fresno Res. The Fresno Tavern will be the tournament HQs. This is a live fish only event. This event is limited to 100 fishermen and normally fills quickly. For more details contact the Havre Chamber or Fresno Tavern.Be safe on the ice and watch for changing ice conditions.
