After eight years Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has released its long-awaited bison management environmental impact statement. The document sets down the means for which wild bison could be moved to public lands and managed as wildlife. Conservation groups have long eyed the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge as a likely place for such a release. Another possibility is allow the Blackfeet Tribe’s bison herd access to adjoining national forest lands and maybe even Glacier National Park.
