Brett French Presents: Rocks are the stars at Red Lodge Mountain

There is a limestone rock formation visible along one of Red Lodge Mountain’s runs that provides an incredible backdrop for skiers and snowboarders. Called the Palisades, the fin of rocks is the result of an ancient sea bed being thrust upward during mountain building millions of years ago. The run, also named Palisades, leads to one of Red Lodge Mountain’s high speed lifts. So it’s easy to see why this area of the hill is so popular.
