Brett French Presents: Avalanche shoves snowmobile trail groomer downhill

While grooming a snowmobile trail in Gallatin Canyon last week, Gallatin Valley Snowmobile Club president Daniel Kristensen triggered an avalanche. He was clearing a drift across the old logging road when snow broke off 470 feet above him. The force of the slide easily pushed the heavy groomer downhill 165 feet. Along the way the machine rolled at least once, broke out the windows and filled the cab half full of snow. Amazingly, when the groomer stopped rolling it was upright and still running but seriously stuck.
