When a trophy walleye bites your bait following a family memorial service for your late father-in-law, it’s hard not to assume that he was smiling down on you. That was the situation for Red Lodge angler Lindsey Iversen recently when she hauled in a 32.5-inch, 11-pound walleye at Canyon Ferry Reservoir. Iversen has only been fishing a few years. She was soaking a worm and marshmallow off the bank when the big fish hit. Normally they catch rainbow trout from shore. The family agreed the next trout they caught they would release in honor of John Miner, who died last year and loved to fish. But the next big fish was the fat walleye, and there was no way Iversen was going to release it.
