The upper and middle Bitterroot has been fishing very well with the cooler night time temps. The flow above town is hanging around 765 cfs and has been topping out around 70 degrees. Middle river is running pretty skinny, with most of the river running through irrigation canals. Tricos have taken off from middle river all the way down to town. If you are going to hit the lower end, make sure you hit the river early. The morning fishing has been very noteworthy with lots of PMDs and tricos hitting the water. Hoppers are still the MVP, pulling fish out of their trico-coma well into the afternoon. Streamer fishing at day break, more often than not, has provided the best opportunity for BIG fish. For Streamers use sparkle minnows, Aztec buggers, Big Horn buggers, mini sex dungeons, and T&A leeches. Olive and white combinations have been best.

HATCHES/Flies: Caddis, BWOs, Golden Stones, Baetis, PMDs, yellow sallies
