Updated Bear Creek Fire Closure Order implemented September 3, 2020

Dillon, MT September 3, 2020 – An updated Bear Creek Closure Order, #2020-01-017, was signed and implemented today. This closure is for public safety due to the Bear Creek Fire which started on August 11, 2020 and burned 11,900 acres. This order will be in effect from September 3, 2020, and shall remain in effect until December 1, 2020 or until the order is rescinded, whichever occurs first.

The closed area is depicted on the map attached as Exhibit A and herby incorporated into this order.  This area is generally described as beginning at the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest Boundary south of Lemhi Pass  T10S R15W Sec 34, east to T10S R14W Sec 31, south to T11S R15W Sec 13(PB46 on visitor map), west along FS Road 3932 to T11S R15W Sec 28, north to T10S R15W Sec 31 and proceeding east T10S R15W Sec 34.

FS Road 3932 is closed from T11S R15W Sec13 (PB46 on visitor map at the FS/BLM Boundary) west to T11S R15W Sec 28.

The closure applies to all National Forest System (NFS) lands including roads and trails (including FS Road 3932), depicted on the attached map Attachment A.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both.  (16 U.S.C. §551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571(b)(6) and 3581(b)(7).
