No doubt everyone who has hunted elk has some wild stories about packing an animal out of the mountains in the dark, tracking a wounded bull for hours, or odd encounters while trying to sneak up on an animal. Former Fish and Wildlife Commission members Tim Aldrich and Shane Colton are no different. Colton lost sight of a bull he shot on Montana’s eastern prairie after it literally dropped out of sight into a crevice in the ground. At 78 years old Aldrich shot a bull that an archer had taken aim at earlier in the season. Find out how he knew this by reading my story at https://billingsgazette.com/outdoors/former-wildlife-commissioners-share-unusual-elk-hunting-tales/article_c1655ed5-2c80-5734-a2d5-7bb191c8461c.html
