In a Monday meeting the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission took the unusual step of reopening a cow elk hunt on the east side of the Crazy Mountains at the request of landowners. The 3-2 decision to make the move pitted new commissioners appointed by Gov. Greg Gianforte against the two holdovers from the Bullock administration. The effectiveness of reopening the season for one week was questioned by most of the commission. The request came from new Fish, Wildlife & Parks director Hank Worsech who has made customer service a theme of his appointment.
