Freezeout Lake sees highest migration numbers of the season on Tuesday

Freezeout Lake observers recorded 49,500 white geese on Tuesday, March 30 and 1,318 swans, the highest numbers of birds recorded so far in the migration season.

According to past records, the season typically peaks on March 25, with an average of 57,000 birds observed on that date in years 2004-2020.

The migration typically wraps up by April 15.
