Grizzly Hackle, in Missoula, gives the Bitterroot River a 2/5 as of April 6th.

The Bitterroot is on the drop right now and should continue to do so all day.  It’s fishable.  Right now nymphing is the way to go or a Skwala/dropper rig with San Juans, Rubberlegs, Princes and Jig PT’s.  Streamer fishing is another good option with flashy streamers like Polar Minnows, Jewel Thieves, Dungeons and Skiddish Smolts.  The river is moving quick and big.  Be on your guard out there and if you just got a new boat and are learning to row, now is not the time to be learning.  It can be dangerous out there and the water is cold.  Be careful!
