2021 Spring Mack Days-week 8

There is only one week remaining in the 2021 Spring Mack Days Fishing Event. A total of 25,051 lake trout entries have been entered so far in the event. Friday there was a total of 824 lake trout entries, Saturdaythere were 359, and Sunday there were 977. Mack Days Fishing Events are sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. There is Up to $225,000 in Cash and Prizes that will be awarded and it is not too late to get your name in the lottery style drawing that begins at $1,000 and goes to $50. All it takes is one lake trout entry! Mack Days are used as a tool to reduce numbers of non-native lake trout in Flathead Lake.

 

That $10,000 tagged fish “Jaws” could be at the end of your line so get your lines in the water and try to lure him or her in.  There are three $5,000 tagged fish, five $1,000 tagged fish and over 9,000 tagged fish with values from $100-$500. Turning in $100 tagged fish were Felix Gauci of Stevensville X2, Ryan Cloo-Clinton, Kolton Turner-Kalispell, and Julie Duncan of Polson. There were two $200 tagged lake trout turned in by Jason Mahlen of Kalispell and Mike Benson of Lonepine.

 

Kolton Turner leads the anglers with 1,725 lake trout entries and an eighteen-day average of 86.89. He had turned in ten perfect 100 fish day during the event.  Jason Mahlen is 2nd with 1,629 and 83.06. Bob Turner of Kalispell                                                                                                                                      with 1,379 and 70.67, 4th Mike Benson of Lonepine-845 and 41.61, 5th Steve Benson-Spokane Valley-779 and 40.89, Ken Varga of Kalispell is 6th with 735 and 38.33, 7th Sam Cusker of Bigfork-721, 8th Larry Karper of Florence-703-38.17, 9th Travis Banyai of Kalispell-689 and 36.83, and 10th Tyler Varga of Kalispell with 704 and 35.72.

 

Julie Perkins leads the ladies with 287, 2nd Connie Jones-Kalispell-74, 3rd-Nicole Peters of Missoula with 44, 4th Lisa Cloo-Clinton with 39, and 5th Laurie Kreis of Huson with 33.  

 

Golden Oldies-1st Larry Karper-703, 2nd Jack Kirkland of Missoula-553, Larry Ashwell-Missoula is 3rd with 391, 4th Marty Herak of Polson-141, and 5th John Gauci of Florence with 73.  Matt Guckenberg Jr of Kalispell is 1st in the 13-17 with 269. Larry Karpers lost fishing rod was caught by Sam Cusker                                        on Saturday. Sam heard of Larry losing his fishing rod and left it for Larry to ID. Sure enough it was his. Thank you Sam!

 

 

Brodie Smith of Kalispell is 1st in the 12 & Under with 209.

Week eight winners of $100 drawings were: Waxi Thao of Missoula X 2, Travis Banyai, Tristen Persico of Missoula, and Felix Gauci of Stevensville.

Special Mother’s Day Drawing winners were: Connie Jones of Kalispell-Siberian Cooler, Ken Varga-Electric Fillet Knife, and Gene Corne of Kalispell-Stadium Chair.

 

There will be no fish fry or awards ceremony on the last day. Drawings will be electronically after the conclusion of the event on Monday.
