The Opening of the Upper Beaverhead did not disappoint

The Beaverhead from Clark Canyon Dam downstream to Pipe Organ Bridge opened this past Saturday.  The usual mob showed up and many nice fish were caught.  The crowds should disperse this week.  Small stuff, midge larvae and baetis nymphs are working near the dam and San Juan worms and small olive nymphs are working as you get below High Bridge.

The always late Mother’s Day caddis hatch on the Big Hole River has arrived just in time for the weather to turn 180 degrees from the calm, warm, and sunny days to snow by Thursday.  Oh well, we can use the moisture.  Back to streamers, San Juan worms, and various nymphs as the weather cools.
