The BLM has opened a 30-day public comment period for nominated oil and gas lease parcels located in Montana and North Dakota. The comment period runs November 1, 2021- December 1, 2021 and is intended to solicit public input on issues and potential impacts described in the Environmental Assessment.

Parcels nominated for inclusion on the First Quarter 2022 sale are located in Fallon, Powder River, Richland, and Roosevelt counties in Montana, and McKenzie, Mountrail, and Williams counties in North Dakota.

With public scoping now completed, the BLM will consider the initial public comment as part of preparing environmental assessments for parcels. As previously announced, parcels for scoping include those that were deferred in the first and second quarters of 2021.

Updated information on the sale and information on how to submit electronic comments is available on the BLM ePlanning website. Visit https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2015346/510. Comments can also be mailed to the Bureau of Land Management Montana Dakotas State Office, Branch of Fluid Minerals, Attn: Christine Cimiluca, 5001 Southgate Drive, Billings, MT 59101.

Those who provide comments are advised that before including their address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information, they should be aware that the entire comment – including the personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While those commenting can ask in their comments to withhold personal identifying information from public review, the BLM cannot guarantee that they will be able to do so.
