Upper Madison River Fishing Report by Fins and Feathers 3.18.22

The Upper has been decent lately, some really good days and some tougher ones. Fish are stacked up in buckets and runs right now so if you find one fish, you should be able to trick a few others out of the same spot. Nymphing is the best right now with San Juan Worms, Pat’s Rubberlegs, Midges, Baetis, Caddis Larvae, and a variety of Perdigons. Dry fly fishing has been good with the right conditions, lately we have had a lot of wind and I would imagine this will be the case predominately with the warm weather. Streamer fishing is hit or miss with Sex Dungeons, Sculpzillas, and Wooly Buggers. Keep an eye out for skwalas and BWO’s over the next few weeks. Dry fly fishing could really take when these bugs start hatching.
