Slow weekend for paddlefish harvest; pulse of water likely to recede by holiday
It was a relatively slow weekend for paddlefish harvest, with the total take at this point estimated at 134 fish. On Friday 31 paddlefish were harvested, and on Saturday anglers took about 36 fish. To date, 63 males and 32 females have been processed at Intake. No paddlefish were caught during catch and release at Intake on Sunday. Monday is another catch and release day only at Intake.
The accompanying charts demonstrate the increased river flows that will only last a couple of days before receding just in time for the holiday weekend. The pulse of water may improve angler catch rates in the downstream locations on Tuesday and Wednesday. To date, the percentage catch rates by site are Sidney Bridge (41%), Richland Park (16%), Intake (16%), Elk Island (12%), State Line (7%), Seven Sisters (7%), and Missouri River (1%), and upstream of Intake (0%).’
