FWP News: BIG ARM STATE PARK REOPENING; LAKE MARY RONAN STATE PARK REMAINS CLOSED DUE TO WILDFIRE DANGER

KALISPELL — FWP is reopening the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park on Flathead Lake while Lake Mary Ronan State Park remains temporarily closed due to wildfire danger.

Big Arm will reopen at 10 a.m., July 31, 2022. All normal services will be available at the park. Lake Mary Ronan State Park remains closed while the area stays under an evacuation notice from emergency services personnel.

The Elmo 2 Fire started July 29, 2022 in the Deep Draw area along Highway 28. The fire started in grass and made its way into the timber north of Highway 28. Drivers need to be aware of existing hazards near the fire area including smoke and firefighter vehicles while driving on Highway 93.

Montana Red Cross has opened a shelter at Linderman School, 312 4th Ave. E. in Polson, for those displaced by the fire.
