Flathead National Forest Awards Campground Special Use Permits

Kalispell, MTDecember 19, 2022 – The Flathead National Forest is pleased to announce the award of two campground concession special use permits to operate and maintain forest recreation facilities on the Flathead National Forest. The selected entities will begin operation of the sites in 2023. These Special Use Permits expire on 12/31/2027 with an option to extend for an additional 5 years to 12/31/2032.

Parting Waters Adventures, Inc. was selected to operate the North Zone of the Forest. The following North Zone sites are located within the Hungry Horse-Glacier View and Tally Lake Ranger Districts:

  • Tally Lake Campground, Group Site, Group Pavilion, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Big Creek Campground, Group Site, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Devil Creek Campground
  • Doris Creek Campground
  • Doris Point Boat Launch and Day Use
  • Emery Bay Campground, Group Sites, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Lid Creek Campground
  • Lost Johnny Campground
  • Lost Johnny Point Campground, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Murray Bay Campground, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Riverside Campground and Day Use

Big Sky Recreation, LLC was selected to operate the South Zone of the Forest. The following South Zone sites are located within the Swan Lake Ranger District:

  • Holland Lake Campground, Group Site, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Swan Lake Campground, Group Site, Boat Launch, and Day Use
  • Lindbergh Lake Campground, Boat Launch, and Day Use

The Forest Service issues campground concession special use permits to private organizations to operate and maintain these government-owned recreation facilities but Forest Service maintains overall management responsibility.
