Red Lodge, MT -July, 12 2023 — Road work will be conducted on Glacier Lake/Main Fork Rock Creek FSR #2421 on the Beartooth Ranger District to improve road conditions and ensure safety for forest users. The project will commence on July 20th, 2023, and intermittent road closures are expected from 8:00-12:00 pm and 1:00-5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Prior to the main contract, road grading operations will be carried out, which may cause temporary delays and disruptions.

Due to limited turnarounds and narrow roads, only a few trucks can operate at a time. The contract has been extended until year-end, so expect ongoing traffic delays. Drivers should exercise caution and adhere to posted signs and instructions provided by on-site personnel to prevent accidents.

“When completed, this much-anticipated road work will provide visitors with easier travel,” said Amy Haas, Acting District Ranger, “so that they can experience the impressive beauty of the Hellroaring Plateau and Glacier Lake Trailhead.”

The Forest Service acknowledges the significance of Glacier Lake/Main Fork Rock Creek FSR #2421 as a crucial transportation route in the forest. Therefore, we will strive to complete the road work project promptly while minimizing interruptions and prioritizing safety.
