HELENA, Mont. – May 3, 2024 — On May 9 the Helena-Lewis and Clark Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) will meet to review project proposals that provide substantial benefits to National Forest System lands within BroadwaterTeton, Lewis and Clark, Fergus, Judith Basin, and Meagher counties.

“We received 27 project proposals totaling over one million dollars,” said Deputy Forest Supervisor Molly Ryan. “The Resource Advisory Committee will have an opportunity to make recommendations on which projects should be funded with the $740,000 available in Title II funds.”

The meeting will take place from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at Camp Rotary (19 Camp Rotary Road in Neihart). Members of the public are invited to attend in-person or virtually.

The Helena-Lewis and Clark RAC is a group of 9-15 volunteers that provide advice and recommendations to the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest regarding the allocation of funds, fee proposals, and greater project work across the Forest. Advisory committee members represent a wide variety of backgrounds and interests and committees strive for equal representation from tribal and government agencies, industry, environmental groups, recreation groups, and local residents. Funding and administration for the RAC is provided under the authority of the Secure Rural Schools and Self–Determination Act (Title II).
