BUTTE, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management invites the public to comment on a proposed special recreation permit application from Bozeman Hunting Company to conduct commercially guided hunting trips on public lands in Gallatin and Madison counties.
The permit would authorize BHC to offer guided day-use hunts for big game such as antelope, bear, deer, elk, mountain lion, and moose, as well as upland game birds on BLM-managed parcels administered by the Butte and Dillon field offices. No overnight camping or facility setup would be allowed on BLM lands under this permit. Access to hunting areas would be secured through private landowner agreements where necessary. Motorized use would be limited to designated open routes.
The public comment period runs from June 26–July 9, 2025. If approved, the permit would be valid for one year beginning August 15, with the potential for a 10-year authorization based on successful annual reviews. All activities would occur during designated hunting seasons and follow BLM’s existing stipulations and route restrictions.
