Fairy Lake Road #74 on the Bozeman Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest will not open as planned on June 16th due to ongoing snow conditions.
On that same date, the Carroll Creek gate on Fairy Lake Road will be accessible; however, the upper segment of Fairy Lake Road #74 will remain closed. Visitors will be able to drive up to the closed gate located just before the trailhead, near Elf Lake.
Kat Barker, Recreation Program Manager for the Bozeman Ranger District, stated, “We understand that keeping roads closed past scheduled openings causes short-term access delays for the public. We will fully open Fairy Lake as soon as conditions allow.”
All other roads slated for opening on June 16th in the Bozeman Ranger District will open as scheduled, including those in the Bangtails, Hyalite, and Gallatin Canyon. Visitors are encouraged to explore these alternative opportunities during the road closures. For further timing and information, please contact the Bozeman Ranger District Office at (406) 522-2520.
