Montana’s summer fishing is holding steady with plenty of action across the state. Trout anglers are still finding success on early morning and evening floats on the Madison, Yellowstone, and Blackfoot. Terrestrial patterns like hoppers and ants are starting to take off, especially on warmer afternoons. Over on Fort Peck, walleye anglers are working deeper structure with bottom bouncers, while smallmouth bass remain active along rocky shorelines. Canyon Ferry and Hauser are producing perch and the occasional big rainbow for boaters trolling spinners. Flathead Lake continues to pump out lake trout for anglers jigging off deep points.
