Here’s a quick update on current lake conditions after last night’s refreeze. There’s been a lot of buzz about the main lake capping over again, so before anyone makes plans to head out, take a minute to read through the latest observations and safety concerns below from Fort Peck Marina:
I have been getting a ton of calls and messages this morning about the main lake capping again last night. Yes the main lake capped is it safe to fish ABSOLUTELY not. Guys remember we just had to rescue some ice fisherman three days ago off the main. We are lucky if there is 1” to 1 1/2” of ice on the main in the areas that were open yesterday. With Temps back in the 40’s starting Monday the main lake will be really sketchy moving forward unless Mother Nature really gets angry and gets cold. I know everyone loves chasing lakers and it’s hard to miss out but remember it’s only a fish and a fish isn’t worth dying for!!! Please stay safe.
