MISSOULA, Mont. – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Missoula Field Office issued a proposed decision to grant a 10-year lease to Monroe Property Company to graze cattle on the Black Canyon Allotment in the Blackfoot Valley.
The lease allows 80 cattle to graze 9600 acres of BLM-administered lands between June and October each year. The BLM recently acquired the lands considered in this lease, and the landscape was grazed under previous ownership.
Members of the public affected by the proposed decision to authorize the grazing lease can protest the decision by April 23, 2026.
The environmental analysis, decision and information on the grazing lease is available at eplanning.blm.gov/Project-Home/?id=646f4668-912f-f111-8341-001dd804183b
